Design your own

Not so easy to see from that little pic, but here you'll get the full picture.

So, it's a keyboard. But it's a special keyboard. Each key has a screen built into the button, so you can configure the keys any which way you choose. And there are plenty of spare keys, which you can use to define certain functions, creating shortcuts specific to the software you use the most.

Yes it seems to cost 44,000 of some currency or another, but never mind that. Revel in the imagination and the design.

School's (almost) out

Nearly the end of term, so it must be time for the Back To School ranges.

This one, though, is really cool. (That's the Bendy Name Ruler, illustrating the point.)

Car stopping

From the excellent Technology Quarterly supplement in The Economist, comes news of this development in car chases:

"One way to avoid the need for chases would be to track felonious vehicles electronically. StarChase, a company based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, has developed a way to do just that. A pneumatic cannon is mounted on the pursuit car. With the help of a guiding laser, it shoots a satellite-based tracking device, smothered in epoxy goo, onto the target vehicle, allowing the police to track the suspect without endangering the public. The Los Angeles Police Department plans to deploy the system this year."

And here it is.

For the summer

It might look modest, but the Aerobie Pro Flying Ring is a world record holder, and now winner of The Gadget Show's top five frisbees.
