A stonking great Schloss

I'd never describe myself as a particular Borish Johnson fan, but his romp through his lineage in Who Do You Think You Are was great TV. It's still on iPlayer for a couple of days, or you can read the story and see the highlights here.

Bring on the trumpets

It's hard to say why this is so funny.

But it is.

Back to school lunch

I do like a good bag. Plenty at ebags.co.uk, including their Back to School range, featuring (and pictured to my left) a natty little lunchbox.

The Sunday service in the pub

What's the future for the British pub?

If these creative boozers are anything to go by, it's not what we'd expect.

Schematic

What would the motorways of Britain look like, laid out like the Underground map?

Like this

Docked

"You're on the move all day—from your desk to your next meeting and back, from the living room to the kitchen. Wouldn't it be great if you had a mouse that you could just attach to your notebook and go?", ask Logitech.

Well, it hadn't occurred to me before, but since you mention it, yes, I suppose it would be pretty cool.

The V550 Nano mouse for laptops.

How to fold a t-shirt. (This time, the version you can actually follow.)

OK, this is one of the best links ever. It'll change your life (if you let it).

Long, long ago, when we were all much younger, here on John's blog as part of the guide to washing clothes was an impossible Japanese video showing you how to fold a t-shirt. Many happy hours were wasted trying to work out what was going on.

Now, here's the same trick in English.

See. I told you it was good.

Popped

You may have seen this, but just in case - the threat to our cinema popcorn.

The example is from Southampton but they're not alone.

So, in case you're in need, here's some to go in your microwave.

Write it, hear it

Now, pay attention, Bond. Livescribe. You take notes with the pen, on special paper. It records the sound it hears around it, whilst you write. If you want to listen back to the audio, you position the pen by the section you're written, and it plays you what was going on in the room at the time you wrote those words.

At least, I think that's it.

Search

Set up by staff who used to work for Google, cuil could be the shape of search engines to come.

As far as actually finding stuff on the internet goes, it's not quite there yet, especially for the UK user, but it looks great.

The unseen ballet of Britain

This is, at heart, a trail for a BBC programme on Sunday - a fascinating series of clips showing satellite data from the sky, mapping the things we do electronically, from planes and cars to ships and even telephone calls.
