Don't be alarmed. This is the summer's new hot shoe - it's the Beach shoe from Croc. In America, they're being advertised with the slogan "Ugly Can Be Beautiful". Apparently they're soft, gorgeously comfortable, and if it looks horrible then here's their European managing director: "People are not used to the look, so what can you expect when people see them for the first time? In reality, the ugliness disappears within a few minutes and makes way for an appreciation of the shoe." So that's OK.
